Find out how mediums can improve your acrylic painting, what are the best surfaces to use and what is the difference between types of acrylic paints? Solve problems like fast drying and dull paint. Discover ways of adding more texture to your work
Rue will explain the difference between inks, tube paint and liquid acrylics and recommend surfaces for acrylic mixed media painting based on her own experience and research as a mixed media artist.
She will show you a few of the many acrylic mediums that are available that will enable you to improve your painting techniques and address some of the frustrations with acrylic such as very fast drying, colours dulling and flaking.
In 30 minutes, you will get an overview of: acrylic paints, surfaces for painting, how to glaze to get vibrant colours and depth into your work, how to slow the drying process, tips for painting Impasto, and creating textures in your work.
All acrylic mediums shown are readily available from local art shops- Rue’s favourite products are from manufacturers such as Golden, Liquitex and Winsor & Newton.
This event is linked to the Surrey Artists Open Studios and Rue’s studio is open from June 11th-24th. At the studio you will see Rue’s work and original work is available for sale from £25 – £750.
