Artist

I create mixed media artworks using acrylics, collage, paper and a variety of materials to produce tactile vibrant artwork. My intent is to produce artworks that abound with texture and colour so you feel a desire to reach out and touch them. I want my art to be affordable, so I create a range of sizes and also unique prints. My photographic prints are textured with gold, silver and black tube lining. My canvas prints are textured using mixed acrylic mediums so each one is highly tactile and individual.

In the last couple of years, I have been travelling and finding inspiration from my experiences of different places. I take lots of photographs and use these to inform my work. I like to find a new perspective on everyday stories and the unexpected.

I experiment with different techniques, materials and colours to create my artwork. I enjoy texture and colour and these are an essential part of the finished work. Unfortunately, this does mean the work looks better in the flesh than on a photograph. However I exhibit regularly in Surrey so you can see the works for yourself.

Biography

Rue Stanley, born in London sometime in the sixties and grew up in Wimbledon, moving to Surrey 28 years ago. After a successful career in information technology, Rue decided to focus on developing her artistic practice and kickstarted her development with an experimental mixed media artwork course at a local art college. In 2018, Rue set up her own experimental art group to expand opportunities for experiment and collaboration. This group met weekly till summer 2019. In 2019, Rue has exhibited successfully 5 times at Denbies Wine Estate. Rue opened her new studio in Epsom in June and October 2021 and June 2022. In July 2022 Surrey Life Magazine featured Rue’s work and described it as vibrant and sculptural.
